RE: [doc] Looking for a DeLorean

Hi Andre,

Welcome to the forum.  There are a number of threads about this, if you want
to look back in the archives.  My personal recommendation is, if you want a
car that has everything 'sorted' and won't need money spent on it other than
upkeep, you have three principal routes:

1. Buy from DMCH (in the USA) or similar, who generally only sell pristine
cars.  The new vat regulations make this a little more expensive than when I
did it, but I was very pleased with the car as shipped.  They organised
everything their end, including door to port shipping.

2. Only buy in the UK cars that are known to the DOC, Chris & Dave know most
cas in the UK and were very helpful to me - especially in steering me away
from a few.

3. Give DMUK your budget and let them get a car for you and supply it with a
warranty - these guys know their D's.

Hope this helps.

Good luck

Colm

  Hi

I recently joined this Forum as I want to purchase a classic car for
fun and to keep for the long term.

Most older Classics do nothing for me, and I am serioulsy
  considering a DeLorean.

I would interest in the experiences of people who have owned a
DeLorean for a few years, and in particular, some guidance on where
  to buy a good example.

Basically is it a fun car to drive, and a pleasure to own?

My wish is to purchase one in excellent condition, requiring only
ongoing maintenance, and I accept that I may have to pay a premium
  for a good DeLorean.

I see that [Stuart] is selling a "good looking" car on the
website for £15k ? is this a fair price and how do I know a
  good
example when I see one ?

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  Regards

  Andre
