All a diseconomy, IMO. I'm currently bombing around in a 1991 Citroen BX
TZD Turbo which I bought off ebay for £100 last week. 1.7 turbo engine,
no cat (as standard), electric everything, PAS, alloys, ABS,  and goes
like a flipping rocket. It's Verity's car really but she hasn't passed
her test yet, and I can't afford to replace the turbo on my Xantia yet.

The way I see it is you can get some pretty nice cars* that are a few
years old now and cost peanuts to buy and a bit more to run/repair. Sure
some of the repair bills will cost more than the car's worth, but when
the car's only worth £100 it does all add up when you consider the cost
of a new car and associated depreciation.

Well, that's my 2p anyway!

(* I'm not including the BX in this statement - definitely an
enthusiasts' car! Can't fault the diesel engine though)
