Tricky one this due to engine size. As a Alfa Romeo driver I would
say a 147 1.6 but insurance would be the killer. Also Alfa's are
best bought second hand.
For a new motor I would say a Renault Megane 1.5 Diesel (the 1.9 is
really quick but out of your spec). Tam's Brother gets about 60MPG
out of his.
