Its the dimmer control rheostat for the dashboard lights John.

 I dont know how to get to the lights behind the dash (yet)...sorry.
I could do with the information myself, because if I remember right, 
 Martin was working on an LED replacement for the original bulbs in the
 dash, which I would be very interested in buying.
Any Info On These LED Kits Yet Martin? (or am i talking nonsence?)
