This is exactly what happened to Flopsy last year. The guy in 
California who we got her from fitted a new battery (the sort you top 
the acid up in), but put it on its side not realising the terminals 
wernt on the top. Result, when we get the car 4mths later we find 
the passenger carpet under the seat has been eaten away by acid and 
even the seatback was damaged too.
I remember James Espey saying that piece of carpet is no longer 
available during the DMCH Warehouse Tour this year. Plenty of drivers 
side carpet, but no passenger side carpet.
Bugger.
