Got this from Darren:

right, things that are not right for turboing the engine:
as mentioned the compression ratio is too high.
the crank is not strong enough.
the eneven firing pulses do not suit turboing.
the exhaust valves are not sodium cooled.
the valve guides are not bronze .
the camshafts are all wrong.
the ignition advance curves are all wrong and the vac system is designed for
vacuum not boost pressure.
the injection is not designed to support turboing .
Those are just a few things off the top of my head.......
