Well if you get hold of a new one, hang on to the button itself they 
have a habit of falling off and a lot of cars are missing them, even if 
the switch itself works. Sounds like yours was stuffed anyway!

DMCH's parts container should be here soon and no doubt you can buy 
direct without probs
