Cat gasket?

Hiya

Is there meant to be a gasket between the cat and the crossover pipe? 
(the 4-stud flange). The parts manual doesn't show one but mine 
defnitely had one. Both separated halves are now furry :-)

Successfully removed LH manifold, all studs removed cleanly, only 
snapped one of the studs in the manifold where it bolts to the 
crossover, drilled out without any problems. Now going to buy some 
Hammerite barbeque paint to treat it and then can reassemble.

Do you need to remove the alternator and atarter to successfully remove 
the right manifold?

PS Pretty certain it was the left manifold that was blowing.
