| Hi Stian Ref your clutch problem, I had previously sent an
e-mail to the news group regarding this matter. Ignore the first bit as the
member was asking the cause of clutch slip. Both my LHD & RHD D's have
had these clutches fitted to them. There is a great improvement on engagement,
no drag and the pedal is a lot lighter to operate. Regards Mark ----- Original Message -----
From: Mark Bourne Sent: Tuesday, October 03, 2000 7:17 PM Subject: Clutch Problems Hi Guys
There are many reason for a clutch to slip. Sometimes it
could be lack of adjustment but since the DMC12 has a hydrolic system, thisis
most unlikely.
The other 3 reasons for clutch slip are:-  1, Oil Contamination, either from a rear main
oil seal or gearbox input shaft seal.  2, The pressure plate has become weak which
is due to fatigue regardless of mileage covered by the car.  3, Worn out centre plate, which can also be
induced by reason No 2.
Reference to your question on which clutch is fitted to the
DMC 12s. It is hard to says whether it is a Peugeot, Renault or Volvo, or a
possible mixture of the three wouldn't surprise me.
However, there is a German manufacture call L.U.K. that
specialise in VW, Audi, Porsche etc. & do manufacture good quality clutches
including one for the DMC12 as a kit. There are many many Car Spare Factors
Shops in the GB that are agents of L.U.K..
    The part number is 624 147 800 & there are 2 types
depending whether the gearbox input shaft has either 10 or 21
splines.  They do also have a technical assistance line on 0345 001
100 should you require further assistance. Hope this is of help. Regards  Mark     |
