[doc] Re: Wet Engine

Hi Dan,
I have just been in this area on my car, Check the pipe carefuly
as it may look fine on the outside, mine did but the ends inside
the rubber hoses were badly rusted.
Also the small hose attachment on the pump was also rusted.
The Y piece with the sensors in it has two O-ring seals which
may be another place to look for leaks.
Use EXTREAM caution in removing the 4 bolts that hold it in
place if you decide to remove it. One of the bolts on mine
sheared. It was very difficult to remove the remains of
the bolt.
Soak them in WD40 over night before you touch them.
The o-rings are avalable from Renault (ask for the Renault 25 V6 and
they should be able to pull up the drawing)
Use a wet/dry Vac to suck out the water and a screwdriver to get the
muck out of the holes, they are pretty deep.
Its worth cleaning this area well because the block can corrode.
Check out the technical section on www.dmcnews.com.
Regards
Nick
