Yeah, The MOT office told me that when the fog light is on there should be a warning light inside the car - they said that aslong as it went on when the fog was lit and went off when the fog was off then it was fine.  Mine is on the a/c panel with fog stuck on it, so yours on the binacle will work too.
Alistair.

Yes fitting a loose fog light on the bumper seems the easiest way to
go ...QUESTION if i was to stick a loose illuminated switch
temporary inside the dash binacle with 'fog' stuck on it would that
  do??

off just fitting a light under the rear bumper instead of loosing a
breaklight, I fitted one just until I pass the mot and then I will
take it off - you will also need a warning light on the dash to
pass, I used the fan failure bulb on the a/c panel - just stuck some
letters on it that says "fog" that will pass ok... dont forget to
change your headlights!!! and have your handbrake tightened also,
big fail rate on that one.
