Don't let the epoxy fool you into thinking that the Delorean frame is a thick tough frame..it is made from mild steel..If you remove the epoxy underneath that bulky epoxy is a frame that it is about the thickness of a American Dime...but unlike the dime that can resist rust and corrosion..the Delorean frame cannot...think about that and how fast winter salts can eat through a frame that has the same thickness as a dime.

It's the Lotus engineering that went into the black body/structural frame engineering and High density foam engineered into the right structural points(in the Black body and Bumper areas) that make the delorean somewhat safe in a accident..even without airbags.

I one time REMOVED the SS skin off a bent Delorean door (and YES with a lot of labor a Delorean door CAN BE skinned)and I was totally AMAZED into what Lotus engineered into those Stainless steel doors for structural safety and rigidity.
