But, the market is rapidly turning against this technology. See, e.g.: http://tinyurl.com/ocxqnk7 As I said in my previous post, I can attest from first hand experience that in this case, public opinion is well-founded. The problems with run-flats include that they are: --expensive --short-lived (often incredibly so) --rough-riding --non-repairable --disposable (must be discarded after a deflation event) --difficult to find on the road --short-range (typically 50 miles) when flat The one time I actually had the pleasure of availing myself of the wonders of run-flats was a deflation along I-40 in deepest Texas. It did not end well. Before I was able to limp to the next exit, the tire shredded to uselessness and I ended up being towed anyway. No place within 200 miles had the tire. I ended up buying a pair of conventional tires. When I got home I bought two more and have never looked back. Increasingly, manufacturers are including electric tire pumps and cans of fix-a-flat rather than run-flats. They are on the right track. --Pete Lucas VIN #06703 [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] ------------------------------------ To address comments privately to the moderating team, please address: moderators@xxxxxxxxxxx For more info on the list, tech articles, cars for sale see www.dmcnews.com To search the archives or view files, log in at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/dmcnewsYahoo!
