I have been carrying an extinguisher in my cars since the early seventies. As it turned out, I almost put a car in a garage with a small fire under the hood in the apartment complex that I lived in. The cause of the fire was a burst power steering hose.
Just a quick note, regular insurance will pay for the repair or replacement of anything damaged in a fire, BUT WILL NOT PAY FOR WHAT CAUSES THE FIRE. My insurance would not pay for the repair to the power steering because that is what caused the fire. I don't know if collector insurance is the same.
One more thing, I was also told to carry a halon extinguisher for electrical fires.
Thanks,
Gary Masie
