Believe me, I've already looked into this. If I could hack myself a decent new cluster I would have already done so. The problem with using generic gauges are that they are just too generic. Getting dimensions and sizes just right, along with keeping the exact angles, degree of sweep, etc are not possible. Speedometer is the most difficult as there technically are no aftermarket ones (which I have found) which use a 140mph range in a 270º sweep. There are some close, but not close enough. Therefore nothing would ever line up perfectly with an original-looking 140mph face. I'm also being EXTREMELY picky with the construction and quality of the product. Every gauge needs to appear exactly as it was originally constructed. The only change I'm allowing myself is the appearance of the odometer which will be 7-segment LEDs. Originally I wanted a 6-position 7-segment Vacuum-Fluorescent-Display, but I quickly realized they simply do not exist in small quantities from electronics distributors. Unfortunately as a result of using LEDs, I may also have to relocate the odometer as I'm having difficulty finding 7-segment LEDs small enough and packaged tightly enough to get 6 characters into the original odometer footprint. If people thought the "wheel" was good enough and didn't needed to be improved upon or reinvented, we would never have come up with bearings.
