It can be calibrated on the bench with a motor that can be adjusted in speed and with a calibrated optical speedometer or with hall sensors to measure the speed of the motor accurately.
Excel is also a great help to adjust it and to see how far of it
is from the correct value over all speeds.
I calibrated 3 speedos so far.
You can shift the 0-point and there is also a way to adjust the slope.
If that's not enough - the magnets / sheet metal parts can be slightly bent to enlarge the gap. This is needed when a different
scale (120mph ?) has been installed.
