If there is even a tiny bit of AC leakage into the car's electrical system you can get electalysis and the aluminum will disintegrate. Over a long period of time it very slowly dissolves things, especially if the anti-freeze is old and corrosive. It will act like an electrolyte and the motor will rot. There is also the possibility of a lightning strike and some of it could get into the car. There is also the remote possibility the charger can malfunction and destroy the battery. I prefer not to leave things connected all the time unless I have to. Do you have a specific reason to distrust the decisions that a modern battery tender will make (I'm pretty sure they are able to dial down the charge to virtually nothing), or is it more of a "belt and suspenders" kind of thing? > --Pete Lucas > VIN #06703 > > > > [Non-text portions of this message have been removed] > ------------------------------------ To address comments privately to the moderating team, please address: moderators@xxxxxxxxxxx For more info on the list, tech articles, cars for sale see www.dmcnews.com To search the archives or view files, log in at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/dmcnewsYahoo!
