Purists tend to argue against R134 on principle. I am very happy with all my conversions. When I did locomotive maintenance we had some genset repowered units with A/C hoses that were at least 60 feet long. In that particular high impact environment hoses definitely hold up better than metal pipes -- where we usually had leaks were soldered joints inside the rooftop units. The A/C lines on my school bus also are hoses, not pipe, and are quite lengthy too (I've got two ceiling mounted evaporator units -- one in front and one all the way in back -- a compressor on the engine, and a condensor under the floor -- *LOTS* of hose).
