To tell others that hose replacement is mandatory is not good advice. Not only do new hoses cost money, and require time/effort for installation, but there is a very real risk of damaging components such as the condensor and evaporator wrenching on their fittings (can I hear an "Amen" Farrar?).
Far more prudent, and cost/time effective, is to flush, vacuum, and recharge an existing system. If it holds freon, you have saved yourself money, effort, and potentially a real headache (can I hear an "Amen" Farrar?).
