Nonsense -- many carbs of the late 1980's had active idle control. This is how Ford added it to the 2530:

(The idle air valve hangs off the back).
We've already gone over this on the old DMCTalk. Stop behaving like a git (I didn't say you were a git -- I said you are behaving like someone who is).
