It's the law in this country (and probably europe too). It is not good practice, the usual way to repair broken or damaged suspension and steering parts is replacement. Properly done welding is acceptable although there may be the need to show that it was done by a certified (read experienced) welder. Properly done a welded part can be as strong or even stronger than a non-welded part. BTW, if it is acceptable to weld a frame to repair it and the frame is critical to a safe car, how is that allowed? Obviously there has to be some common sense used. I am going to buy one and have Laurinburg Machine weld it into #2508's column first, then #5939's column after #2508 is on the road later this year. There are a few other irons in the fire first, but this is something I've very much wanted for a long time (like the black carpets, which finally got done this spring), so I am definitely going to do it. > > I will likely use an F150 sized coupling for ease of future replacement (no chance of the part becoming scarce, and they're cheap -- $5). > > Bill Robertson > #5939 > > > --- In dmcnews@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx, stevedmc@ wrote: > > > > All I did was post a YouTube video asking for help.
