You won't have clearance for a full length bolt with the A/C accumulator in the way. Even on the driver's side there isn't enough clearance for the bolt and a hammer swing. You also could frig the threads up when the arm drops slightly as the old bolt is driven out (that's why you need beveled edges on the 1/2" bolt shanks -- the arm has to relocate itself as they pass through). I did this myself when I added the fender washers (LCA's were already in place, and I didn't feel like removing them). For a couple dollars worth of Grade 2 bolts from Lowes or Home Despot, why push water uphill? As you can see, supplied bolts don't even have enough length for fender washers, much less hardened backing washers: http://sphotos.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-ash4/390244_271883462856911_100001057778755_833296_174182591_n.jpg They're Grade 5 anyway -- just buy some 1/2" longer Grade 8's. If you don't do that, the LCA will drop (at the pivot end) as soon as pivot bolt is removed and you'll never get it lined up again -- at least not until the springs are removed. > >> > >> Are you going to butt the brackets against the shock towers, or are you going to stand them off with hardened washers? If you're going to stand them off, you'll need to order some longer bolts (if your brackets show up with Grade 5 bolts you might want to order replacement Grade 8's anyway). > >> > >> You'll need longer bolts as well if you're going to overlay the bracket bushing lips with fender washers. I received an eMail in the fall from an owner who reported that his brackets were pulling through the bushings (the only thing that prevents the brackets from doing that are the lips on the bushings). > >> > >> This is how I installed mine: http://sphotos.xx.fbcdn.net/hphotos-snc7/377906_271475429564381_100001057778755_832165_907230671_n.jpg > >> > >> Bill Robertson > >> #5939 > ------------------------------------ To address comments privately to the moderating team, please address: moderators@xxxxxxxxxxx For more info on the list, tech articles, cars for sale see www.dmcnews.com To search the archives or view files, log in at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/dmcnewsYahoo!
