My experience was the same twice, once on my car and once on a woman's car (not a Delorean) that I had stopped to help change her flat tire.
I have been told that alloy wheels can become like welded to the steel that they are bolted to, electrolysis I think and a light coat of never seize should be used to prevent this. this happens when tires are not rotated in a timely manner.
Haven't had a problem since.
