That's the curious thing: nobody has objected to spare tire weight (or space). They are arguing against it on principle alone: "I don't need a spare because I have AAA."
Even Marc admitted in Message #84624 not only that he has used his spare tire himself, but that he has loaned it to others whose spares were unusable. In a community as small as DeLorean ownership -- perhaps an even a smaller subset of that community: DMA -- that is a very high incidence of tire failure, especially given the limited distances most DeLoreans are driven (compared to normal cars).
