You  don't always have a choice when it comes to getting a car inspected. I live in New Jersey and the second last time I had to have my D go through regular auto inspection, I tried to drive it through the brake test as I had done for many years prior. I was told that I could no longer do it because the test had changed. I asked the woman if she knew how to drive a stick and got a dirty look. She got in, drove it through the brake test and then down the testing lane to the end of the building. She stalled the car at least 5 times in about 60 feet. I should have stood in front of the car and demanded that she get out and get her supervisor, but I figured she would run me over. After that I went on collector car registration and finally Historic.
