Martin can speak for himself thanks. Volvos use twin 10mm belts, the Renault setup on the DeLorean uses a single 12mm belt I was wrong about the muffler because I've never seen one cut open so you won that one. So using your logic, why aren't canoes made from steel? Why are aeroplanes increasingly made from tubular composites? The strength of a structure must be ascertained on its own merits, not just on the material it's made from. Why do aluminium-framed mountain bikes use larger diameter tubing than steel framed bikes for example? You aren't an engineer Bill, quit trying Martin Sent from my BlackBerry® -----Original Message----- From: "content22207" <brobertson@xxxxxxxxxxxx> Sender: dmcnews@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Date: Sat, 17 Mar 2012 00:24:12 To: <dmcnews@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx> Reply-To: dmcnews@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Subject: [DML] Re: More so called "facts".. Martin is the same person who swore that a Volvo water pump pulley wouldn't work on a DeLorean until I installed one on my own car. He swore the exhaust system emptied into the left side of the muffler until I cut one open. The only way Martin will accept anything he disagrees with is for me to do it to my own car. According to ever reliable Wikipedia, glass reinforced polyester resin is significantly less strong (tensile strength) than steel: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ultimate_tensile_strength I guess that is why people don't build bridges and skyscrapers from fiberglass. I have seen first hand what happens when a fiberglass canoe hits a rock. From that I will extrapolate what would happen if I dropped my DeLorean on its roof. Sure, we can all say what we THINK would happen based on our own knowledge, or experiences..
