Ugh..  It is never a good idea to loosen those hinge bolts!  But, it is too late for that.

If you remove the bolts, you might find that the backing plate is jammed, or possibly the stainless has been filed down such that the bolt needs to be moved front/back before it can slide up/down (assuming the door is open).

Even if you get it to move freely, you have a few hours of work ahead of you to get it aligned again.  I have never heard of a "good trick" to make this easy, and have always wondered how they did it at the factory.
