I don't remember seeing anyone saying Ed's brackets were bad. At some point a few months ago, I mentioned that if all LCA flexibility forward/aft was removed it may be a problem because the end of the ARB travels in an arc. This is something that was posted to DMCTalk and credited to Mike Loasby. It was a CONCERN, that does not mean I think ARB mounts will fail on cars with Ed's brackets. Although Martin has offered some alternatives to Ed's solution, and talks about designing his own, I don't think he has predicted any failures either. The so-called "attacks" are being fabricated. They do not exist. --- On Mon, 3/12/12, Welmoed <welmoedj@xxxxxxxxx> wrote: > From: Welmoed <welmoedj@xxxxxxxxx> > Subject: [DML] Re: Front Suspension Compliance > To: dmcnews@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx > Date: Monday, March 12, 2012, 11:31 AM > I have those "damn" LCA braces (as > one could call them) from Ed. > They're on my car ever since I brought it over from the > USA. > I also "stiffened" the LCA by closing the bottom with a > welded plate. > > The handling of the car has been so much improved and the > effects of hard braking (the car behaving like a young buck) > making the front almost incontrolably moving sideways is > entirely over. > > I also discussed replacing the LCA by a triangular type like > the UCA. > Ed's first remark was that the front strut towers and frame > probably would not be up to the forces without > re-inforcement. > > My 2 pence on the subject. > Do we eventually need a referee? > > Welmoed. > > ------------------------------------ To address comments privately to the moderating team, please address: moderators@xxxxxxxxxxx For more info on the list, tech articles, cars for sale see www.dmcnews.com To search the archives or view files, log in at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/dmcnewsYahoo!
