I've been wondering if I could get closer to 30 MPG if I were to
install .047 jets but I'm too lazy to spend the 5 minutes swapping my
jets plus I don't want to risk running too lean.

Steve Rice has reported 28 MPG with his carbureted DeLorean (~.048" jets) by holding his speed down, which should put to rest claims that carburetion is inherently fuel inefficient. I tried to run my own car on quite small jets once (.03x"), but it was way too lean -- the engine predetonated.
