Let me clear up a couple of points.
The award was to honor C. Muffley and recognize creative modifications in the opinion of the then current Officers of the DMA. I did meet him and saw his car. It was one of the first ones anyone had seen that was converted to carburation. Charles himself said he did it because he did not understand the K-Jet system and wanted something simpler that he could tinker with. To be completely fair and honest it did not run all that well, especially when cold. It was a "work in progress" and that was fine with Charles. The award was meant to honor his efforts in creativity and individuality. Not to Crown the King of Carburetors. The award is given every other year at DCS to honor that individual, who, in the opinion of the current Officers of the DMA, feel warrants special attention. There is no nomination process. If you are looking for validation for your efforts in modifying your car that is sad. Most people who do mods do it for their own personal satisfaction. Some of the things you do are clever but most are not for everyone, especially owners that are not mechanically inclined and are willing to tinker.
