The exhaust system dumps into the left of the stock muffler. The bulge is usually a sign of a failed or failing stock catalyst, in turn usually caused by over- fuelling. I've seen cars where things got so hot the epoxy was burnt off the frame in that spot. Replace or get rid of the cat and the exhaust runs considerably cooler. No need to completely re-route it. Plus I can rotate my engine with a simple socket wrench. And easily change my belts. And tension my alternator without *TWO* brackets in the way. And jump my otterstat if necessary without burning my fingers. Etc. With an individual muffler on each side, the engine sounds like two separate three cylinder engines sounding somewhat at odds with each other. I don't prefer that sound at all. There is no way to get balanced pressures between banks either, as there isn't a connection anywhere from one side to the other. With the "normal" configuration, the two sides get "connected" within the muffler, and you get that distinctive exhaust note. And with the DMCH muffler, which is custom made for the various Stages, the exhaust note becomes quite "european". I really prefer that note. > > Toby Peterson VIN 2248 "Winged1" > DMC Northwest > DPNW > ------------------------------------ To address comments privately to the moderating team, please address: moderators@xxxxxxxxxxx For more info on the list, tech articles, cars for sale see www.dmcnews.com To search the archives or view files, log in at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/dmcnewsYahoo!
