Agreed. "Butt-size" is a factor. The Kaiser Darrin is unique in that is requires 0" horizontally OR vertically to open the door. Technically a Lambo's scissor doors require 0" horizontally, but like the gullwing and butterfly, they do require addition vertical clearance. Only the Darrin needs no additional space beyond the vehicle's envelope to just open the doors. (Doesn't mean you'll actually be able to get out! ; ) )
On a side-note, I did see on You-tube once somebody did a nice video demonstrating just how little space a Delorean needs to open the doors and then compares to a conventional door's inability to open given the same space. (I think he was saying 11" for the Delorean)
