Plan is to replace the cable with a bicycle brake cable (on his own recognizance). I have a sneaking suspicion that will happen *AFTER* the maiden voyage. I will communicate to him what kind of RPM's to expect, if the solenoids receive any sort of signal at all. Does make one nostalgic for simple manual transmissions. If you wire the arm on the governor more to the center of it's range, the shifting will seem more normal. This is essentially a throttle position sensor and sets the shift poing appropriate to where the throttle is at the time. Later shifts under acceleration, but holds the high gear longer on deceleration. > > > --- In dmcnews@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx, "content22207" <brobertson@> wrote: > > > >> 1) Will the transmission shift gears without this cable (owner is fairly itching to test drive the car as soon as he has brakes, possibly before a replacement cable has been run) > > 2) If the transmission will in fact shift gears without the cable, should he expect the shift points to be too high or too low? > > > > Bill Robertson > > #5939 > > > ------------------------------------ To address comments privately to the moderating team, please address: moderators@xxxxxxxxxxx For more info on the list, tech articles, cars for sale see www.dmcnews.com To search the archives or view files, log in at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/dmcnewsYahoo!
