Stop mis-quoting me will you?! Who said anything about radical? I have
my design in my head which is where it'll stay until I get the chance to
trial it. It'll be self-supporting except where it transfers forces to
the chassis that the chassis was designed to handle. I'm not in any
hurry because I doubt very much there'll be much of a market to sell it
to, any more than I have people beating down my door to buy my all-round
4-pot brake and vented disc upgrade, which I know you'd be crowing about
if you ever got the chance to drive a car equipped with it. It's
something I wanted to do for myself originally.
I don't like the way Ed's reinforcement puts extra loading on the lower
arm mounts. I don't like the way they are in single shear, I don't like
putting a formed flat steel bar in compression, I don't like that bushes
which were designed to be loaded radially are being used with axial
loading and I don't like the way he felt the need to bush the join
between the reinforcement bar and lower arm - this would be a solid join
if it were to be a true lower wishbone. I also don't like the price he
sells the kit for! (partly because it'd be tough for me to compete with
my idea, even though it would be an improvement!).
The video shot by Raphael clearly shows the lower arm being dragged
still under braking, even though the movement is much improved. See time
index 1:03.
