[DML] Re: Broken angle drive

I am still traveling. As soon as I get back to North Carolina I will buy another angle drive. The damn thing broke Friday afternoon, after I was already in the DC area. I keep an RPM xRef chart taped to the underside of my glovebox door, so I was able to stick it on without even stopping the car (actually my friend was driving at the time -- I was in the passenger seat). In the bad old days an angle drive cost $300, which is why I went so long without one. Now that they are $60 replacement is pretty much a no brainer. I figure the 12 month warranty translates into $5 per month for a guaranteed functional speedometer. Anything after that is a freebie. I installed this unit in August 2009 (Houston).
