JZD did a pretty good job of slandering himself, no assistance from me. For a man who was quick to file a libel lawsuit against Haddad when he left the company, that JZD didn't do so when Haddad wrote his book (ostensibly JZD was bankrupt and could have used the money) is curious indeed -- unless Haddad's research would have been proven factual in court. In conjunction with Hillel Levin's and Ivan Fallon/James Srodes' books, the portrait painted is not a pretty one. DMC was full of talented people -- especially the mistreated Bill Collins and Mike Loasby. Those are the people who brought these stupid little cars into fuition, not Saint John DeLorean. JZD's entire career was nothing but a giant PR stunt. Starting with taking credit for a car he did not design (the GTO was Knudsen and Estes' creation -- JZD did the Tempest), the man lied all the way into a jail cell (the man *WAS* incarcerated for a period of time, where he eventually found Jesus). > > > > Can anybody name one single venture JZD was involved in that did not lose money? Chevrolet lost money 3 of the 4 years JZD was its head. Of course GM fired him (note that he repeatedly lied about the amount of his severance package, inflating it more than 100% in less than half a decade -- even stagflation can't account for that). > > > > JZD was a prolific liar. He lied about the GTO. He publicly lied about the number of patents to his name (75, not more than 200). He lied to the people he worked with. He lied to the British government (for example, when the temporary wooden huts were destroyed after the Bobby Sands riots). Kathryn may be the only person he was truthful with. > > > > Don't let your passion for these stupid little cars blind you to the inept at best, and criminal at worst, man JZD was. Other than the money he talked out of the British government, DMC's limited success occurred in spite of JZD, not because of him. Had a more capable, or honest, man been in charge (with the name British investment, of course), the company might actually have survived. With JZD calling the shots, it was predestined to fail. > > > > Bill Robertson > > #5939 > > > > > > --- In dmcnews@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx, Marc Levy <malevy_nj@> wrote: > > > > > > I disagree with you on this one.
