I not only knew him, but he sold me his 1981 Delorean in 2000!  (He bought,
and subsequently sold a second Delorean several years later).  He attended
the DMA Spring Social with his son a few years back.

If you read the article, they were able to match online photos of him with
his Delorean (don't know which D) with other photos, in order to get a
positive ID match... so it was relevant in the investigation.

He was always so very friendly and helpful.   This is pretty surprising
news.
