Hi Andy, If you are driving the car regularly, I can't imagine why you'd need to clean the injectors that often. I may be the exception, but in the 80,000 miles I've put on my car in the past 7 years, I have NEVER replaced or cleaned a single fuel system part (including the fuel pump), except the accumulator. Does your rough idle sound or smell like a miss? A couple of times I've had to use the method I learned from the great Don Steger: Run the car at idle, use a 12mm wrench to just crack each fuel line on the fuel distributor. Then tighten it up and move to the next one. If you crack one and the engine doesn't stumble, you found your problematic cylinder, and you have an area to focus on. I've used this method on other people's cars much more than my own, but it works well. I seen the problems range from bad plugs, water in the plug wells, bad wires, or even an injector covered by the air box that had popped loose because of a weak clip. Good luck, Jake Kamphoefner 1063 --> looking forward to the DMC Midwest open house this weekend! ________________________________ From: "Soma576@xxxxxxx" <Soma576@xxxxxxx> To: dmcnews@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx Sent: Wed, May 4, 2011 10:30:21 AM Subject: [DML] Cleaning fuel injectors Hey all, I replaced my injectors about 7 years ago, but I think it might be time for a cleaning. I have no problem removing the injectors, so what would be the best, safe way to clean them? Should I just put them in a tray, soak them in Berryman's B12 overnight or what? The car has been regularly driven, and I always put Stabil in the tank for the winter, but over the last two years I have a slightly rough hot idle. Sometimes it surges once, idles a little erratic for awhile, surges, idles erratic... other times it sounds pretty good, but not steady like I know it can. I know it will purr like a kitten, because it did in the past, so I'm thinking I might have a dirty injector.
