Belts shouldn't be making noise; take them off and turn the pulleys by hand and see if they are/which one is hard to turn - could be the alternator making noise and not the pump.

Secondly, check the condition of your reservoir cap, mine was not sealing which caused my overheating condition which wasn't easy to diagnose since everyone says to check everything BUT the cap... 6 bucks and my overheating problems went away. The cap probably isn't your problem but check it out.
