Dave,

 

EPDM rubber is not suitable for use with petroleum products.  The ATF
has likely degraded the rubber.  Nitrile rubber would be a better
choice.

I was premature in my diagnoses of seal failure. The leak appears to be
coming from the pan gasket. I used 1/8" EPDM rubber instead of cork
because the cork always weeps. Now I don't understand why the EPDM is
leaking, maybe too soft or too thick. What have other people used?
