I belong to the AACA and as a result receive its publication Antique Automoblie. Over the years that I have been a member, I have observed that the DeLorean, for the most part, has been ignored by the club and especially by the publication. I was happy to see an article about the DeLorean in the May/June magazine. While the three page article was a good read, I must say that I learned some things about the car that I have never known before. The car weighs in at 2,700 pounds(no big issue with me there) and EACH door weighs more than 900 pounds. The rest of the car must be built out of super light materials since that leaves less than 900 pounds for everything else. Could the spare tire be filled with helium to compensate for the 1800 pound doors? The stainless steel panels are GLUED to a fiberglass frame. It didn't mention rust issues with the fiberglass frame so I assume that has not been identified as a problem. You can enjoy the full article on page 66 of the May/June publication.
