Thanks everyone. One person said, in essence, that there was no reason to flush-out the old oil. Is that the consensus? It would seem to me that if , say, you were going from non-synthetic to synthetic, or vice versa, that a flush might make sense (?) Anyway, on the synthetic products, the only oil I could find at Advanced Auto Parts was Mobile 1 synthetic 75W90. This should be ok, right? It doesn't get THAT cold in Maryland, but to my mind it is a minor difference in formulation. steve --- In dmcnews@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx, "stainlessilusion" <5n-@...> wrote: > > Figured I'd mention my method of filling so you will have a choice. The gear oil bottles usually have pointed caps where you can cut off a big or small hole depending on what you need. I just cut a small hole, put a hose [that will fit in the filler hole] on the cap and run it into the filler hole and squeeze the oil into the transmission until the fluid is level with the hole. Putting the rear of the car on a ramp will change the amount of oil you'll need, so watch out. -----Dani B #5003 in FL! > > > Once you have the oil out get yourself a funnel and a long hose that will > > fit into the filler hole.
