I was trying to make some adjustments to the passenger door (it just

doors.>>
Steve: Here's a link for two lock/latch articles I wrote in detail,
including an overview of the door locks:

Look at the notch in the side of the doors where the latches are. If the
"hole" at the top of the notch is round, that particular latch is in the
"closed door" position, and the door won't fully close whether it's locked or
not. If the hole at the top of the notch is like an upside down teardrop,
the latch is in the"open door" position, and should normally be closeable, IF
both latches on the door you're closing are in that "open door" position
and IF the door locking system is in the unlocked position... unless your
door lock control rods are knocked out of alignment. Let's start with an easy
solution first. When working on open doors, rule number one always is: all
latches on open doors should be moved to the "closed door" position. Each
has to be done manually and individually. The lock switch cannot move
them...doesn't work that way. To move latches to open or closed position, first
lift the door handle... it will lift whether in the open or closed, lock or
unlock position. Then use a blunt tool... or carefully use a fingertip to
push the latch parts upward for close or downward for open. MOVE THEM ALL
UPWARDS. Next try to move them all downwards. If you cannot get the latch
innards to move, the door locking system is in the locked position. Move it
to the unlocked position. Don't flip it back and forth, just move it once.
Flipping won't free anything stuck, but can make things worse. With the
latches in the "open door" position, and the door system unlocked, it should
close, normally.
