"Synthetic" is very much a marketing term for Castrol. Their
"synthetic" oil is just highly refined dino oil. Mobil sued them over
this a few years back and remarkably lost. There is a reason Mobil (and
other legitimately synthetic oils) cost more than Castrol but the
average uneducated consumer just sees the word "synthetic" and gets all
excited.

Remember in the US "synthetic" is a marketing term.... it does not have
to
actually be man-made. In Europe that is not the case. It may still be
mineral based.
