I called Castrol about this last year and was told LMA has always been synthetic. I did eventually speak to someone who said it was just a artwork change on the bottle and nothing inside was changed.
Of course, this information may be incorrect. I am just relaying what they told me. Give them a call, see if you get the same answer?
