As the saying goes, "Let the buyer beware" for buying it locally or far away.  My best recomendation is to find someone who owns a D or has owned one to look at it for you before you purchase.  Other than that, it is the same as buying anything on car.  Get the clear title at the same time you pay for it.

Has anyone here ever bought a complete dmc12 through ebay? Good idea? 
Bad idea? My current car, an 02 kia rio is on its last legs and so I 
might soon be in the market for my dream car, a dmc12 of course.
