This is what I did when I replaced mine, I got a bunch of small screws and used a Dremel to cut them down. That was the easy part; the hardest part was to drill out all the old rivets, remove the old rubber and metal, and then cut the rivets down again to make them small enough to pop inside the roof and away from the holes. I drove around for about a year without any roof seals before I put new ones in; you may want to begin removing yours now and get that task out of the way, that way when you get the new ones you can just pop them in and be done. -----Dani B. #5003 --- In dmcnews@xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx, "daveswingle2" <swingle_dmc@...> wrote: > > You're going to have a hard time finding them with the metal still attached - that was NOS that ran out some time ago, that's why everyone just sells the rubber part now. > > Can't help you with the screws, we use rivets too. > > You could try your local hardware store, and and cut the ends off. If you get dimples in the stainless on the roof, you didn't cut them short enough. I noticed that a few owners replaced theirs with a set that comes attached to the metal strip and with screws instead of rivots. I called DMC in California (AKA Delorean Center) and they advised they do not carry this anymore. I like the screws vs rivots option and the fact that the seal already comes attached to a new metal piece. > ------------------------------------ To address comments privately to the moderating team, please address: moderators@xxxxxxxxxxx For more info on the list, tech articles, cars for sale see www.dmcnews.com To search the archives or view files, log in at http://groups.yahoo.com/group/dmcnewsYahoo!
