Some people including myself have tried.... IMO, little improvement  
with this method... Your best bet is to install a hi-performance  
system that are made available by the various vendors.  There is a  
real difference in performance.

I have the Stainless System from England.  They engineer and  
fabricate everything in house as with the muffler, pipes,, headers  
and etc.  They do not use parts an adapted and to be assembled as a  
system to be sold.  All parts are flanged and to be bolted together  
and not with "U" clamps.  The system can be had with and without cats.

I believe this system has less cosmetic problems with "age and  
usage."   Luv the welding joints and the polished finish.  It is a  
work of art, for it is meticulously manufactured hand assembled.   I  
wanted to hang it on my wall when I received it.  One draw back is  
the system is expensive, but beautiful.  There is importing taxes and  
there are payments that needs to be bank transfers which are  
additional costs, but well worth it.....  So.....

Anyway, do your research before you commit to any system......
