Real easy to just check the inertia switch with a meter to verify continuity. If the switch does NOT have a splotch of white paint on it, it should be replaced, the origonal switch had a recall. The switch should also be mounted on the lower, left footwell wall, NOT on the Lamda counter. Again, part of the inertia switch recall. Dave S has it right in order of most common problems, he just didn't mention that the fuel pump wiring circuit is one of the more "inventive" areas of dreaded PO repairs with many creative wiring practices. Very often this circuit gets modified to "fix" problems. Another major problem area is melting out fuse #5 in the fuseblock. You would immediately see it when you go to jumper the RPM relay. Of course this all assumes the problem is electrical and the pump is not running. If it is running then other possible reasons the pump isn't making noise is that the pump itself is bad or the suction hose is plugged up or kinked.
