Thanks for the information. Yes, I figured out the electric system has challenges. As soon as the car came off the transport truck I needed at least a new battery. I am wanting to get a complete restoration of this car. I was thinking of using DMC Houston. Has anyone out there had any experience with using them for a restoration? Good price, free road hazard warranty, etc. I'm happy with both sets (2 cars). A god quality battery is easy to find - look for a group 78 battery at Sams or your favorite retailer. I have one interstate battery and one of the more expensive red top batteries, both are fine. Do note however that the '81s (mostly?) came with 80amp ducillier alternators that were marginal 25 years ago. The Motorola used in the 82s and 83s was better, but all the major vendors now sell much better alternators. Make sure your problem is the battery, not the alternator. There are also electrical problems related to bad ground and battery cable connections you will want to look at.... Keep the questions coming.
